Following record breaking events over the last three years, this year's beer festival will take place between 1st -6th July.

The aim, as ever, is to provide a wide selection of the finest beers available from the ever-growing ranks of micro-breweries. We try to find beers never before seen at the pub, a task which becomes harder every year.

In the heat wave of 2006 we guzzled our way through 121 different brews, seven higher than our previous record in 2005. Continental beer sales were up by 200 gallons. Cider sales also doubled.

The miserable summer of 2007 left us expecting a major downturn, and whilst peripheral sales were lower, we still drank our way through 120 new brews.

Let us hope for the return of sunshine come July 1st this year.

Music sessions
On the third Tuesday of every month, we open our doors to local folk musicians who come and entertain us from 9 pm onwards. Musicians and music lovers are equally welcome.

Wobbly Wheels
On many Monday or Tuesday nights, from late March to late September, cyclists gather to head off for a tour of local pubs, returning for chip butties to restore equilibrium at around 10.30 pm.

The pace is fairly sedate these days as many of us are not as young as we once were.  Newcomers are always made to feel welcome. Please contact the pub for more information.

Vintage Sports Car meetings
The first Thursday evening of each month sees people turning out in a fabulous selection of venerable machinery, accompanied by a selection of other interesting vehicles of all ages. Turnout does depend on weather and time of year.

Cricket
We have a team in the local knock out competition. The approach is light -hearted, but handy players are always welcome.

Fantasy Football
Another season is over. Some managers are as sick as parrots. And one lucky chap will be over the moon when he collects the cash prize. Either way, it was a season of two halves (and many pints) and battle will recommence when the next season begins in August 2008.
